Where traditional transportation by means of conveyors, trucks and rail fail due to uncharted territories, pipeline transportation of ore concentrations (copper, nickel, iron, etc.) with high solids concentrations represents a cost-effective, safe, environmentally friendly and primarily low-emission alternative.

In the so-called hydraulic solids transport two-phase mixtures are pumped. Hereby the hydraulic carrier for conveyance of solids through the discharge pipe is represented by water (fluid). With only one pump station hydrotransport of sludges and slurry can be achieved over distances up to 300 km.

Also tailing of metallurgical process plants, for example high concentrated red mud, can be conveyed reliably and safely over long distances into the corresponding collecting tanks.

Five-headed units are recommended for large flow rates. The FELUWA Quintuplex design provides a high uniformity comparable with centrifugal pumps and considerably low life cycle costs. Even without pulsation dampeners, residual pulsation is reduced to 5.1 % (vs. 23 % of single-acting three cylinder pumps and 32.5 % of single-acting four cylinder pumps).
