Efficient. Safe. Environmentally friendly.

FELUWA Pumpen GmbH received the order of a Russian refinery for the supply of a pump to process a slurry of Cobalt Carbonate particles and Isobutanol. The slurry has to be pumped with pressures up to 320 bar into a reactor within the process chain.

Wherever abrasive, aggressive and toxic media are conveyed, the hermetically sealed, oscillating displacement pumps from FELUWA are used. The Russian customer has deliberately chosen the unique, patented FELUWA MULTISAFE® technology, because the hermetically sealed, redundant double hose-diaphragms ensure double safety for transportation of critical and environmentally hazardous fluids.

Two hose-diaphragms, arranged one inside the other, are fixed in the pump head. These hose-diaphragms enclose the medium ensuring double separation of the hydraulic drive end. The conveyed fluid will neither come in contact with the pump head nor with the hydraulic area. Pumping action is effected by displacement of the inside volume resulting from contraction of the hose-diaphragms. In step with the piston stroke, they are only subject to pulsating action, comparable with that of a human vein. Elastic distortion of the hose-diaphragms is path-controlled and effected in a concentric manner due to their inherent construction. As a result of hydraulic support, the hose-diaphragms are subject to little load even under high working pressures. The service life of hose-diaphragms is considerably extended beyond that of traditional flat diaphragms, which reflects in very good MTBF (Mean Time Between Failure) and MTBR (Mean Time Between Repair) values.

Since the abrasive and / or aggressive media are neither in contact with the piston nor the sealings within the gearbox, the use of extraordinary materials such as Duplex-steel for the pump housing could be avoided. Hence, the check valves are the only wearing parts. The costs for maintenance and repair are minimized, the life-time of the seals and the availability of the pumps are significantly increased.

FELUWA MULTISAFE® double hose-diaphragm pumps are suitable for pressures up to 500 bar and flow rates up to 1.000 m³/h.

FELUWA was able to offer a shortened delivery time due to the modular design of the pumps. After the successful Factory Acceptance Test the pumps are shipped via truck to the final destination. FELUWA’s experts will supervise the commissioning at site and train the client’s specialists for operation and maintenance of the pump extensively.

FELUWA’s continued engagement on the Russian market has been validated by the trust of the Russian client given with this order. The strategy of a further expansion of FELUWA’s activities in Russia is underlined by the recent registration of a representative office in Moscow.
